Malayali Poet Nithya Mariam John Has Been Nominated for the Pushcart Prize

Nithya Mariam John, a Malayali poet, has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize, an American literary prize.
The editors of Last Leaves Magazine, who published her poetry Seven Nights of Mourning,' recommended her for the award this year. The author informed her social media followers of the news.
Every year since 1976, the Pushcart Prize has published 'Best of the Small Presses,' a compilation of award-winning works. According to its website, the Pushcart Prize is "the most celebrated literary endeavor in America."
"Since its inception, the Pushcart Prize has been a labor of love and independent spirits." "It is one of the last remaining literary cooperatives from the 1960s and 1970s," it states.
The Prize accepts up to six submissions from "small magazine and small book press editors worldwide."
Nithya has three short poetry volumes to her credit. Sahitya Akademi's Indian Literature, The Alipore Post, Borderless, Gulmohar quarterly, Hyderabad Literature Festival-Khabar, Muse India, The Samyuktha Poetry, Malayalam Literature Survey, Ink-Kochi, Usawa Literary Review, Sanglap, DoubleSpeak, Last Leaves, Qissa, and Muddy River Review have published her work.
Her poems have been translated and published in Odiya. Some have also been translated into Malayalam and Tamil. She has translated works by Unni R, Shahina E K, Anju Sajith, and Gracy into English.
